Six OHLers On Canada’s Ivan Hlinka Roster

Six players from the Ontario Hockey League will be donning the red and white at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup August 10-15 in Slovakia and Czech Republic.

Goalie Dylan Wells (Peterborough), Dman Victor Mete (London), and forwards Will Bitten (Flint), Jordan Kyrou (Sarnia), Michael McLeod (Mississauga), and Zach Poirier (North Bay) will all represent Hockey Canada at the Under-18 tournament.

Of the 22 players invited, six are from the OHL, 12 from the WHL, and two come from the QMJHL.

Dante Fabbro and Tyson Jost, both play for Penticton (BCHL), are the only non CHLers to make the team.

Canada has won the annual summer under-18 tournament seven consecutive years, and has won 19 of 24 tournaments since 1991.

Canada will play in Group A with Czech Republic, Sweden and Switzerland. Group B consists of Finland, Russia, Slovakia and the United States.
