Canada Improves To 2-0 At Ivan Hlinka

Dylan Wells (Peterborough) backstopped Canada to a 2-0 win over Sweden to stay perfect at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.

Michael McLead (Mississauga) opened the scoring midway through the first period, David Quenneville (Medicine Hat Tigers) picked up the lone assist on the goal. Will Bitten (Flint) scored the insurance marker into an empty net in the game’s final minute, with Victor Mete (London) adding the assist.

Canada seemed to carry the play for the most part, with both goaltenders holding the fort.

Sweden once again got strong goaltending from Filip Gustavsson, who was outstanding for Sweden at the Under-17 World Hockey Challenge in Sarnia last fall.

Canada rounds out their round robin play Wednesday morning against Switzerland, Sweden plays the Czech Republic.
