First Round Pick Signs With Kitchener

The Kitchener Rangers have signed forward Greg Meireles to an OHL Standard Player Agreement.

Meireles was selected 12th overall by the Rangers out of the Ottawa Jr. 67’s AAA program. Last season he registered 18 goals and 23 assists for 41 points in 24 regular season games. He registered nine points in five games at the OHL Cup.

Rangers General Manager Murray Hiebert says the 16-year-old will play with the Ottawa Jr. Senators (CCHL) this season. Meirles suited up for a pair of games with the Jr. A team last season as an affiliate.

Hiebert says Meirles will be available to the Rangers this season on a call up basis, and will join the team full time for the 2016-2017 season.
