After four seasons of pro hockey overseas, Rob Schremp is back in North America on a try out for the Portland Pirates, the AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers.
Schremp scored an impressive 154 goals and 384 points during his four OHL seasons with London and Mississauga, including a Memorial Cup Championship with the Knights in 2005. He played parts of six seasons of pro hockey in North America, including 114 games and 53 points in the NHL, before taking his career to Europe.
Originally drafted in the first round (24th overall) by Edmonton in the 2004 draft, he spent time with the Oilers, New York Islanders and Atlanta Thrashers, but was unable to find that scoring touch that made him so successful in junior.
The Fulton, New York native was drafted first overall by the Mississauga Ice Dogs in the 2002 OHL Priority Selection.
