AOHL This Week

Around The OHL This Week (October 27)

Week 5 Power Rankings:

  1. Kitchener Rangers (3) – Time to face facts, the Rangers have the best record in the OHL. Offence starting to show up
  2. Erie Otters (1) – Two losses bumps them down, but still hard to imagine them losing many more
  3. London Knights (2) – Loss to Windsor was tough, but it was the third game in three days so you can’t take too many marks off
  4. Kingston Frontenacs (6) – Winners of four straight and managed to hand Erie their first loss
  5. Sarnia Sting (5) – Fifth again, great record but need to start beating the big boys of the league
  6. Windsor Spitfires (4) – How do you beat London but lose to Sudbury?
  7. Ottawa 67’s (7) – Still hot, defence needs some work before they can move too much higher
  8. Barrie Colts (12) – Offence is back on track outscoring opponents 20-10 in a big three win weekend
  9. Owen Sound Attack (8) – Stayed the course, going 2-1 over the week
  10. Mississauga Steelheads (13) – Goal differential sneaks them into the Top 10, 44 goals for, 36 against
  11. Flint Firebirds (11) – The next five teams could all make a claim for this spot, just feel like Flint is playing better hockey right now, despite record
  12. North Bay Battalion (10) – Tough week for the Battalion, but at least they are keeping games close
  13. Peterborough Petes (9) – Another team that had a rough week, going to OT with Oshawa then having to face Ottawa and Kitchener
  14. Hamilton Bulldogs (15) – Staying near .500 in a competitive East division is impressive
  15. Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (17) – Able to right the ship with a win against Hamilton
  16. Oshawa Generals (14) – Generals had such a good start, but brutal schedule has them dropping
  17. Saginaw Spirit (19) – Beating Erie is enough for me to take them out of the bottom two
  18. Niagara Ice Dogs (16) – Got back in the win column with win against Guelph, but that isn’t going to impress anyone
  19. Sudbury Wolves (18) – After a slow start, Dmitry Sokolov is starting to score, 8 points in his last 11 games
  20. Guelph Storm (20) – Scoring remains an issue. Justin Nichols stats: 2.70 GAA, .928 save percentage, usually enough to get a goalie more than one win

Biggest Rise: Barrie (Up 4)
Biggest Drop: Peterborough (Down 4)
