Around The OHL This Week (January 6)

Week 15 Power Rankings:

  1. Erie Otters (1) – There’s only three certainties in life: death, taxes, and the Erie Otters are on a winning streak
  2. London Knights (3) – Something to be said about this team that they kept winning while their top line was at the WJC. Team to watch at the deadline
  3. Kitchener Rangers (2) – They’ve cooled off, but can look forward to the return of MacInnis, Sergeev and Opilka in the upcoming week
  4. Windsor Spitfires (5) – Back on track after some tinkering from GM Warren Rychel, now we’ll see if they can hold their spot. Though I like Luke Kirwan, they stole Connor Chatham from Flint
  5. Kingston Frontenacs (4) – Adding Dal Colle is huge, and lightens the load on Crouse and company. Were only 13th in scoring prior to the trade
  6. Sarnia Sting (7) – They’ve only won three of their last six, but those losses were in OT/shootout, and lost to Erie, then London twice. On a great run.
  7. Barrie Colts (6) – Played well enough without Blackwood for me to think they ‘ll go on a run with his return
  8. North Bay Battalion (10) – Their past ten games have them on the same pace as London and Windsor. Suspensions to three of their players threatens their current roll
  9. Mississauga Steelheads (9) – Have really missed Nylander, but one question looms over this team: has anyone seen Sean Day?
  10. Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds (11) – Have picked up points in their last three, and get Halverson back.
  11. Niagara IceDogs (8) – Nedeljkovic returns from an excellent showing at the WJC, will need to keep it up in Niagara
  12. Saginaw Spirit (15) – Goalie Evan Cormier is 9-2-1 over his last twelve games. Still taking to many shots against, but still winning
  13. Owen Sound Attack (14) – Failed to take advantage of teams that are missing players. Need an infusion of talent soon
  14. Oshawa Generals (17) – Shouldn’t be done making trades. Have picked up a couple of wins, including their past two games
  15. Peterborough Petes (13) – All the good vibes from their winning streak have evaporated, allowing the fourth most goals against in the league
  16. Ottawa 67’s (12) – Has a team ever needed a player more desperately than the 67’s need Travis Konecny?
  17. Hamilton Bulldogs (18) – Still aren’t very good, but clearly better than the teams below
  18. Flint Firebirds (16) – With Chatham, Nedeljkovic, Wesley and likely Peters gone, Flint can just focus on their draft picks
  19. Sudbury Wolves (19) – Nothing much to sell at the deadline, just have to focus on developing their promising young core
  20. Guelph Storm (20) – Unless he wants to stay, Guelph absolutely has to get a solid return on Justin Nichols to numb this season a little

Note: Rankings in brackets denote their spot in our mid-term rankings
