Fresh off being named OHL Defenceman of the Month for February, Jakob Chychrun is set to play his 100th game in the league.
The timing for his strong play is perfect as the Sting are battling for their first division title in over than a decade.
Since making significant deals at the trade deadline, Sarnia has not only matched some of the league’s top teams, they’ve also taken a narrow division lead after trailing Windsor by a fairly significant margin.
Chychrun says the team has really clicked since the trades in early January.
“When you have high end skill come in, and some really great character guys like we got it helps our dressing room tremendously, and it obviously helps the on ice play as well, we’ve come together nicely”
After missing 26 games during his rookie campaign due to injury, he had season ending shoulder surgery and was shut down for the playoffs.
He’s more than eager to be a part of a playoff run this year.
“I can’t wait, to see the atmosphere last year from the stands, I can only imagine what it was like to be on the ice. He’s expecting an even louder crowd when the playoffs begin later this month. “Our fans were phenomenal in the playoffs last year and I know they’re going to be even better this year.”
Although the Florida native may be suiting up for his 100th game when he takes the ice Thursday night, but what he really wants, is his first taste of the post season.
