Another OT win for Owen Sound, Barrie pulls even and the Soo have a stranglehold on Saginaw

Owen Sound 4 – London 3 (OS leads 3-0)

The Owen Sound attack pick up their second straight overtime win to take a 3-0 series lead over the London Knights.

Alan Lyszczarczyk’s fourth of the postseason came just 33 seconds into overtime, while Brett McKenzie followed up his game two heroics with a pair of goals Monday night. Sean Durzi also scored for Owen Sound.

It’s the third straight game the Attack have had at least 40 shots on goal.

Evan Bouchard (1g 1a) kept up his strong offensive play, while Alex Formenton (1a) failed to add to his team leading five goals. Tyler Rollo and Sergey Popov scored their first goals of the series.

The Knights have made it past the first round in six straight seasons, winning three OHL Championships in that span. Their most recent first round loss was against Owen Sound in 2011, they haven’t been swept in the opening round since 1995 against the Detroit Jr Red Wings.

Game four is in London Thursday night.


Sault Ste Marie 7 – Saginaw 3 (SSM leads 3-0)

The Greyhounds scored five third period goals to take a 3-0 series lead over Saginaw.

Boris Katchouk and Taylor Raddysh both scored twice, while Morgan Frost, Conor Timmins and Tim Gettinger each had a pair of assists.

Hayden Verbeek, Jack Kopacka and Rasmus Sandin also scores for the Soo.

Saginaw got goals from Mason Kohn, Max Grondin and Nicholas Porco.

Game four is in Saginaw Wednesday night.


Barrie 5 – Mississauga 3 (series tied 1-1)

The Colts scored four third period goals to come from behind and even their series with the Steelheads.

Barrie Colts, Aaron Luchuk, Ottawa Senators

Lucas Chiodo (2g1a), Dmitry Sokolov (1g2a), Aaron Luchuk (1g3a) and Zachary Magwood score for Barrie.

Adam Varga, Ryan McLeod and Keean Washkurak scored for Mississauga.

Leo Lazarev made 38 saves for Barrie, including 17 saves in the third period.

Game three is Tuesday night in Mississauga.
