SARNIA – This midweek tilt between a pair of Hwy 402 rivals couldn’t be solved in regulation, as the Sting (15-14-2-2) needed a shootout to pick up their first win over the Knights (21-5-2-1) this season.

Hugo Leufvenius (20) extended his point streak to a season-high 16 games, scoring in regulation before netting the shootout winner.

After the Sting opened the scoring early in the second, the Knights rattle off three straight tallies with goals from Josh Nelson (8), Gerard Keane (2), and Connor McMichael (20). Sarnia would get goals from Jamieson Rees (3) and Alexander Hogue (2) before the end of the second to even things up.

Vegas Golden Knights’ prospect Paul Cotter (2) gave the visiting Knights a one goal advantage with just under six minutes left, but Calgary Flames draft pick Adam Ruzicka tied the game at four with 2:40 left on the clock.

Sarnia outshot London 46-36 as Joseph Raaymakers made 42 saves in the loss. Ethan Langevin made 32 saves, including all three stops in the shootout, to pick up his ninth win of the season.

London has now lost back-to-back games after having their 15 game win streak snapped against Owen Sound on the weekend.

Both teams are off until Friday with Sarnia hosting Erie, and the Knights entertaining Niagara.
