Sudbury Wolves have acquired forward Matej Pekar from the Barrie Colts in exchange for draft picks.

The Czech Republic native is in his second OHL season, putting up 16 goals and 29 points with the Colts this year. In 59 career OHL regular season games, he has 30 goals and 35 assists for 65 points.

The prospect of the NHL’s Buffalo Sabres recently represented the Czech Republic at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

“He is a player that we have really liked and coveted since scouting him in Oakland with the Under-16 team,” said Sudbury Wolves VP & General Manager Rob Papineau.

“He is a skilled high compete player that is hard to play against and brings a pro attitude and approach to our team.”

Pekar will join his new teammates in Barrie Thursday in time for him to face off against his former team as the Wolves visit the Colts.
