The Saginaw Spirit received a huge boost to their blue line, as the New York Islanders announced they have reassigned 20-year-old defenceman Bode Wilde to the Saginaw Spirit for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.

Wilde, who was selected by the Islanders in the second round of the 2018 NHL Draft, has skated in 20 games with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers this season. The 6-foot-3, 190Ib. rearguard also missed time to an ankle injury to begin the season and didn’t appear in game action until November 16th.

Wilde helped guide the Spirit to the franchise’s first West Division title since 2011 last season, recording 70 points (19-51–70) over 62 games with a plus/minus rating of plus-28. The Spirit reached the Western Conference Championship Series for the first time in club history, with Wilde putting up nine points (7-2–9) in 17 playoff contests.

The 32-15-2-2 Spirit currently lead the West Division and are back in action on Wednesday when they visit the Soo Greyhounds.
